Whitening

For stained teeth, cosmetic dentistry provides a number of flexible answers and take-home kits, trays made at our office or in-office bleaching.

In-office whitening

If you have sensitive teeth or are in need of a swift brightening, this treatment is the best option. It is quick, easy, and lasts-longer than at home whitening. Our qualified cosmetic dentistry professionals can create bleaching trays, specifically molded to your dental set, to whiten your teeth repeatedly year after year.

The in-office teeth whitening procedure allows our skilled team to directly apply the bleach to your teeth while taking preventative measures to keep your sensitive teeth safe. The result is a bright smile in only one visit to our dentistry office. Most teeth whitening treatments are performed in 30 minutes to one hour.

Teeth Whitening Before & After

Take-Home Whitening Kits

These kits have a high concentration of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, and provide results after one to two weeks of use. Your dentist will create a tray from an impression of your mouth. Then you will place whitener into the bleaching tray and place it over your teeth. The tray is normally worn for one hour or more a day, for one to two weeks.

It is important to remember that take-home treatments will be done without the supervision of a dental professional.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

Is teeth whitening safe?

To date, there are no studies showing that teeth whitening can be dangerous for your teeth or health if done by a dental professional. If you have any concerns, feel free to talk to one of our staff members.

Can I bleach teeth that have untreated cavities or gum problems?

It is recommended to treat cavities and gums problems first. If teeth with untreated cavities are bleached it may cause pain or inflammation. Just make sure to have a dental check-up at our office before bleaching teeth.

Who is a good candidate?

Anyone who has teeth stains that is looking for a fast, simple way to get a whiter smile is a candidate. However, we do not advise children below 16 years old to whiten teeth. The pulp chamber continues to grow until this age so whitening can cause damage to the pulp. Also, because pregnancy is such a fragile stage for the baby, dentists warn against bleaching teeth while pregnant.

How long does teeth whitening effects last?

It is not permanent, but those who avoid food and beverages that cause stains may be able to wait one year or longer before another touch-up.
